Bollywood Style

January 25, 2010 - Leave a Response

What a complete change from my previous post! This one is dark, with just a little light to give it some detail. A collaborative photo shoot gives me the opportunity to play, to test and to grow. Thank you Jolly for being part of this photo shoot. I’m looking forward to showing you the rest of the photographs. Jolly is one of a number of teachers at BollyBeatz – and yes Nidhi – I know, I know, I “should” come back and dance. I do intend to – just let me sort out all things photography first :-)

A workshop with Jasmine Star Pt 2

January 22, 2010 - Leave a Response

OK. I’ll admit it. I had a lot on yesterday thus my missing ‘promised’ blog post featuring the fabulous Kristie Jane! We had a beautiful afternoon for her shoot. A little wind…just right for showing off her beautiful wedding dress designed by Catherine Colubriale. Oh so beautiful light and a fabulous location – The Rocks in Sydney. Hair and makeup was done by Elle Vierboom and her bouquet created by Daisy Chain Florist.

I’m still pondering all my learnings from the workshop by Jasmine Star and you may see some changes occuring to my website as each day passes by. Love to hear your feedback on the changes – if you’ve noticed :-) …and yes, there is still more to come!

Thanks again to Cathy Crawley for organising a great workshop! You rock!

A workshop with Jasmine Star

January 20, 2010 - One Response

About six months ago – a friend, that I’ve known for years and years Cathy Crawley from Beautiful Moments Photography announced that she would be hosting a workshop held by the most vivacious Jasmine Star. You should have seen me hopping around! Andrew (my husband) was teaching a leadership course that day so I had to wait to run it by him – as the course was to be held in Sydney! He got home, we chatted – and I sent in my “please let there be a spot left for me” email. I got in! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy! So as time went on – I booked my flights, my car and all my hellos to catch up with old friends whilst I was in town.

Back to the workshop! What a day it was. Thank you Jasmine for being so candid about your business. I definately took away a lot from the time spent with you and am now implementing a change each day to keep my business moving forward. Thank you to Cathy for the excellent choice of location. For the fabulous co-ordination, it is not easy to please a crowd and you did an absolutely fabulous job. Thank you Lacy & Evan Shelton – our real life couple for the day – you two were great to work with!  To Kristie Jane – I love your look! (I promise to blog about you tomorrow). Flowers were provided by Daisy Chain Florist – I love the colours that you created! Hair & Makeup was done by Elle Vierboom – you brought out the stars in our models. And last but not least – look at the beautiful dresses by Catherine Colubriale – wow!!!

Oooh – did I mention a thank you to the other photographers on the day? To all of you – it was so lovely to meet you all and to chat. I wish there could’ve been more time but hey, there’s always good ol’ Facebook! :-D

A Model Shoot – Marilyn Natasia

January 15, 2010 - 2 Responses

Every so often I do a test shoot with a model here in Singapore. I love working with models as surprise, surprise – they don’t try to run away from the camera! Remember, I do actually do a lot of family shoots so when I first started to photograph models it was actually a big surprise. I was so used to kids running away – and me having to run after them to get ‘that perfect shot’. This shot features Marilyn Natasia – I was Marilyn’s first female photographer – whoo hoo! Yes, the Singaporean market is dominated with a lot of male photographers (my opinion only). Marilyn is wearing an outfit by fashion designer ReshamM. I love her stuff – do check out her website for her latest work.

My first…wedding…

January 13, 2010 - Leave a Response

OK. Does this mean my secret desire is now out? I will be venturing into the wedding photography market this year :-) A big thanks to the very talented and fabulous Cathy Crawley of Beautiful Moments Photography in Sydney (Australia) for giving me the chance to second shoot with her whilst I was there! Cathy and I have been friends for a very very long time now (12 years!!!) – and boy did we have fun when we got together. Read between the lines = I have not gone to bed that late in a very long time. Natalie and Steven’s wedding took place in the Southern Highlands. Natalie and Steven were a cute-as-a-button couple as you can see. And their wedding and reception locations were superb. For those of you planning a wedding – think location, location, location!

What will 2010 bring you?

January 6, 2010 - One Response

I personally am very excited that 2010 is here. For me, its a time to consolidate all my learnings for the past two years (photography wise). Of course, photography is a never ending learning journey so do hear that I also mean to continue on with my learning track. In fact – I’m flying off to Sydney (Australia) tomorrow to do just that! (Thanks Andrew!)

I have one particular photographic goal that I’m aiming for this year – its funny what the mind can do – I received an email and call just yesterday which will move me towards this goal. You know who you are! For the rest of you who have actually read this…you’re probably wondering what the heck I’m on about…all I will say is…watch my space in 2010.

Linking you to article my husband wrote about goals and the New Year! Oh…why did I pick the above photograph to blog? I love the energy of Naila – I hope you do too. It reminds me of a Sony ad that was played on television quite a long time ago. Check out those abs! Back with more after I get back!

Traditional Dress

January 5, 2010 - Leave a Response

Thought I’d start off the year with something fun! I did a family photo shoot on Sentosa Island at the very end of last year and my client brought along their traditional costume to use in the later part of the shoot. So… here is the question I’d like to pose to you – where does this traditional dress come from? Answer to come once everyone has had a chance to play :-)

Wishing you all…

and your families a very Happy New Year! Thanks for all your support in 2009! Here’s to another fantastic year to come! I personally cannot wait to see what the New Year brings…but then again, I’m one to make it all happen for myself. What are your plans for 2010? (Cheers – think visual – I’ll soon have my first champagne in my hand)

This photo was taken quite a while ago however people still comment on it when they see it so thought I’d blog about it. The beautiful Simone had about a month to go before (if I recall correctly) delivery of a beautiful little girl  – and was positively glowing. Taken at a friend’s house – we used natural lighting for this entire photo shoot.
